Re: Church: Janus/Mason
She waited out the question, because it felt rhetorical and like a true salesman, she knew when to shut up. She did not expect him to react to her presence the same way her nature reacted to his, nor was the physical response anything but a reflection of origins, like water boiling under heat. She drank her coffee, and never once thought of the form he was wearing as anything but that.
"Meaning?" she asked, with a little sniff. "The accumulation of weird? Maybe. Could just be a habit in this place. Something that happens over centuries. There are places like that, in the world." She gave him a little tilt of her head, wondering how well he knew the world, as she knew it, anyway.
"Yes, I know that. I hardly think you're here to do my job." God, that would be nice. She wouldn't be responsible for a fucking thing that happened in this mess of a town, even if it did end up a smoking crater. "And you brought Ella." That really surprised her too, not because there was a second minion here, but because there was only one. No legion, not even a bodyguard. (Not that there was anything short of an archangel that could get to the smiting around this particular personage.)
Finally, she asked what she came to ask. "Are you okay?"
