log: flash and gwen get into the lockdown
Who: Flash and Gwen
Where: Facility
When: nowish!
What: getting into the Tethys lockdown
Warnings: tba
Weeks had passed and according the dumbfounded Tethys scientists, there were still people alive inside the lockdown. What kind of progress they were making (or the monsters that were about to crawl out of there) remained unknown to everyone in the facility. While Tethys was happy to wait it out, the US government was significantly more gung ho about going in. They were military men, which meant if they thought they could solve a problem with force, they wanted to try it.
Flash wasn't different. He knew he could get some shit done in there and more than that, he wanted to prove there was a good reason for waking him up. He tried not to think about Gwen who wasn't Froyo, or the fact that he was taking her right into the jaws of danger. He tried not to see this as some kind of fucked up bonding exercise with her as a way to prove to himself it was still her even if it was never going to be completely the same. And, he tried to shame himself for liking her immediately and not being as angry as he should have been.
All that stuff didn't matter because he had already made the choice.
He convinced his superiors he was the man to send in there. That if the Reaper couldn't take out the alien, then there was no point in having a Reaper anyway. They didn't take long to take him up on it because it was better than sending in a squad of special forces or marines. One guy lost was better than a whole team, after all.
So, then it was all down to sneaking Gwen in. Luckily, the Reaper could be tricky when it wanted to be. He messaged her to meet him in the stairway near the cafeteria bathrooms. When she arrived, she saw him as Reaper, a figure cloaked in black with a white skulled face. The cloak seemed to move on its own, edges of fabric curling and stretching like tentacles in the ocean tide. He was sitting on the stairwell steps, looking very intimidating and not at all like the smiling, joking guy who was under all that symboite.
