"She seemed trained." The dog had sat when the guy said it. Adam was relieved to hear it wasn't a concern. When the guy rattled the machine, he jumped off the counter. "That one always does. I never use it, because the first time it did that and I just got a box at the store," he said, heading over and eying the machine for a moment before smacking it hard, which had worked for the guy that worked here.
Adam waited, jostled the handle and nothing happened. Clearly he didn't have the touch. "Want to borrow mine?"
