Re: eddie/steph log: waffles
There really wasn't anything else to say. Stephanie blushed and gave him a look that he hadn't seen in a long, long time. Steady blues keeping him from drowning. It felt like walking outside after being in a crowded, stinky bar all night and finding comfort in a quiet night. He let himself get lost in it for a little while, forgetting all the madness around them and his hand automatically reached for her. Fingers pulling her hand open so he could press his palm against hers. Eddie remembered all the times they had tried to make things right and there was always anger there, from him mostly, but today with the waffles and the bacon and the coffee? It was nowhere to be seen. Left behind him as he breathed in the fresh air.
His hand was gone moments later and he finished his waffle, kicked back in his chair and drank his coffee. Matilda pattered over to him, whining for pets and he scratched behind her ear. "I want you to be safe and I think you'll like the carnival a lot. I know you, Stephanie. You shouldn't be locked up in a room at the manor or staying in some apartment on main street. You should be somewhere that makes you happy. Besides, I need a couple sets painted anyway and you'd be the one to do it." He lowered his mug and gently placed it on the table. "If the League tries to take you again, they'll have to go through my security and my clowns."
He shrugged. "I won't be upset if you say no. All I ask is think it over. In the meantime, we need to get you checked out for any kind of probe or microchip. Bruce too, if he ever shows his face again." Eddie tried not to grimace and failed miserably.
