[Derek F]

[For over a year, Fridays had meant check-in meetings with her social worker, a group meeting, and testing to make sure she hadn't relapsed. But Marta had known, with the new year, that those would be ending soon. Her year in the program was coming to a close, and there was something inside her that was excited to not have to make the weekly trips into the city.

That wasn't what happened though. The Friday that was supposed to be her last went how it always did - group meeting, drug testing - but during her meeting with the social worker, where she was supposed to sign all the forms or whatever needed to be done, something else happened instead. Instead, there were extension papers to sign. Reasons listed included her stay in the hospital, missing two check-ins, and (which she thought seemed unfair though she didn't say anything about it) the fact that she hadn't held only a single job through her entire year, as stated. That she was being granted a bit of leniency, but she still needed to fulfill that part of the program. So she'd need to keep her current job for at least a year, while still maintaining the rest of the program's requirements.

She didn't quite remember the rest of her meeting, and her trip back to Repose was a bit of a blur. But she knew that she wasn't supposed to have been given the job in the first place - that it had been a mistake. She was sure that they must have told Derek first, but she also felt the need to say something. And while she usually tries to be better about her typing when talking to her boss, she can't quite manage it at the moment.]

hi. did they call you? i'm sorry i dodn't think they'd do that. i think its' ok as long as i stay at the same place so whatever you want to do, its' okay. if you were waiitng for the year to be over before you got a manager i think you can still getone and it'll be fine as long as i can do something there for you. i can keep clenaing at least? and other stuff. [...] whatever you need.

[Because of course she never actually found someone to come in for the cleaning - she's just been doing it herself the entire time. And she adds the last part in case it helps. She's done "whatever was needed" before.]
