Do roadside vampires even like drinking stray cat blood every night? There has to be a better way. My new cat Oswald agrees.

[During this.]

Yeah, so I get you decided not to be in my life anymore because of something that wasn't even my fault and that I couldn't control, and I totes get you made me dying and having my life completely turned upside down about YOU, which was kinda sucky AF, but whatever. I just wanna know if this roadside vamp shit is real, and if we can really survive eating like pigs and cows and things like that.

[Mini-narrative, Eddie N]

[Old Library: Second City]
[It was a bit of a challenge, breaking into the old library in Second City, and it was even more of challenge to do it when the Master Of The House wasn't home. But, Cat, she watched, learned his patterns, and she waited until his most recent visit to his lover's arms. Wasn't it always sex that brought men down? Ah, well, and it wasn't that the place was particularly fortified, not for someone like Cat, but the courtyard proved a tiny problem, though the old subway entrance was a beautiful way in. And then there were the guards, all personal security and wonderfully loyal. Cat could appreciate loyalty in personal security. After all, she had her guards at the Rex wrapped around her little finger. But she could've done without that guard that could throw flames, or the other one that could summon up shades. Ah, well, she was still glad of the challenge, even if the odds weren't in her favor. In fact, Cat loved when the odds weren't in her favor.

She showed up in black, and her utility belt boasted some of Bruce's best goodies, collected when she'd visited him on his sickbed before his most recent departure. Cat was no Florence Nightingale, and having an ulterior motive for the visit had helped at the time. And, now? Now it was just convenient, because it turned out she needed those bells and whistles to deal with these guards, and Bruce always had the best toys that money could fabricate in an expensive little lab devoted to his own personal obsessions.

So, back to the library, and it took a long time. Meticulously, she strung up all the guards, and she took out the supernatural ones first. She was fairly sure they would all survive, even if some of them might end up a little scrambled in the end. As for the rest? She had some of her own men waiting in the subway, and they carted away money in piles so heavy it took two of them to lift each bundle. And up on that fourth floor? Cat found something she felt certain Eddie would want. Maybe it was even the nuisance blocking his abilities.]
