In his element. Too long. Getting into trouble. Situations just like this. His mind raced through a similar set of phrases, for very different reasons. He should have asked a dozen questions, he should have been worried about being arrested (at worst), or chased (at best) - but that all sounded a little bit like fun somewhere in his brain.
And there was a kitty cat that needed his help, and for some reason he was certain he could. And would. "You look good in my element too," he said with a wink and smug grin, as he approached the fence - not even bothering to touch it, that seemed like a bad idea. Call it gut instinct. "What kind of good samaritan would I be if I said no to a kitty cat in need?" he said with a nonchalant shrug.
"In? Or Out?" meaning him, her, someone else, some thing else - he didn't know. But he doubted the plan was to test the fence. And if it was he was going to change his answer.
