Re: Woods: Claire/Daniel
The midday woods to Claire were beautiful. The birds were singing, and gentle breeze played songs using leaves above. The glory of creation and life that He had given to them all lit up and displayed for all to enjoy. Well, not so much for the man here. Which was depressing in its own right, but there was no time to linger on any thoughts as such.
"Good." Better was allowable. Not great, but she could work with better. Except he didn't exactly seem okay as he practically collapsed into the trunk of the tree, and the rock and sway of his body before he sunk to the ground made her question if they should even go anywhere for some time. He was well enough to speak, he was coherent sounding, and she knew that he still had strength in him. They could move, yet thoughts needled at the back of her mind that urged them to stay put until he was less addled. "That's the idea, caro. We'll get you home. I swear."
Unease etched her brow as she crouched down beside him. They weren't going anywhere with him on the ground as he was. She was far more used to killing Daniel's kind than trying to keep them from harm, and while helping him was no moral dilemma on her part, the confusion that hit her was based in how she could make it all right. Claire stuck her hand through the opening of folds of crimson with great care, partially to show him where it was so he didn't wind up pulling it open in a very inopportune manner, and the other was to outfit him with the sunglasses that had been hanging around her neck. If he thought he looked ridiculous in the cloak on its own, paired with the heart-shaped gold frames there was a double dose of obnoxious.
"Here," she offered the glasses with a shake of her hand and rattle of metal, though once again her voice leaned more towards an order until she started asking questions. "Does it hurt? No, that is stupid. Of course it does. How- How fast do you heal? Do you think you can make it? We cannot take a straight path home. We have to skirt the town so we aren't noticed." Someone noticing Claire? That was acceptable. Someone noticing Daniel? No. She'd made a promise that she wouldn't get him discovered. Claire didn't break her promises. ...Hopefully.
