He saw her digging around in the bowl full of those little creamer cylinders, and he tipped his head. "We're not a fancy town," he said. "You think they'd spring for godless, flavored non-dairy creamer here? Irish cream and hazelnut? French vanilla? Madam. This is a family establishment."
"It's a diner," he said, in response to her displeasure with the watery coffee.
He liked her smile when he asked her about drugs, though, and he smiled back. Just smiled for a second, appreciating her smile, and the memories behind her eyes. What an interesting woman. "Didn't, did it? It was more like bad VR. I know it's the hot thing these days, but if it's going to be like that, I'll take a pass."
