Re: Outside the Roadhouse: Gwen & Sheriff Martin.
The heat felt super nice. Her body wasn't particularly good at acclimating itself to shifting temperatures, and she knew that was something that would improve with time away from a controlled environment. The heat was nice, and she pressed her fingers to the car's vents, socially unaware that it was probably super awkward to get into someone's car and start fondling their air vents.
She was thinner, but her diet in the facility had been dictated by the scientists, and most of it was administered via feeding tube. She kind of wasn't super great at remembering to eat, and that was something she needed to get better at too. But she had no practical knowledge of making things to eat, and Jude and Oliver had a super empty fridge. They ordered pizza a lot, but her stomach didn't like pizza very much.
"No. I thought I was in trouble, but I'm not. It's okay. He's not going to turn me in," she said, and her tone indicated she believed what she was saying. "But it kind of scared me, and Jude asks so many questions, and it always weirds me out." She looked down at the bag, and she leaned down and pulled out a granola bar, which she examined in its wrapper, like she maybe thought she could glean some understanding from the nutritional value she could barely read in the darkened car. "Someone else from New York showed up."
