It wasn't until the taller figure appeared beside him that Beckett was able to snap himself out of his awed and overwhelmed state, blinking and turning his head after the voice sounded to his side. Even with the knowledge that one of the other members of this little group was someone he had met he felt a flash of surprise at the sight of Ren standing there. Beckett did his best not to show it, but he suspected he was far from successful. He never had been any good at guarding his emotions.
"Hey," he returned, even going so far as to manage a small smile. Briefly he took another look around the room in which they had found themselves, the rich smell of strong coffee thick enough in the air to be enticing even though he suspected he wouldn't care much for it. Turning his eyes back to Ren he admitted, in a somewhat hushed voice, "This is the biggest house I've ever seen."
