Dante "Inferno" Zaragoza - Death'll find you... (xolotl) wrote in repose,

[Tuesdays were Dante’s first day back in the shop for the week as Monday the shop was closed unless a special order or contract need came in. As it was the first day back in the shop Dante always stopped to grab a coffee on her way in. The deal she’d cut with Ren to ‘surprise her’ for a few coffees a week was still in place and this morning she’d offer up “Dealer’s choice” with a smile to whoever made her coffee. Thankfully, she’d never been let down yet.
From there it was a lazy meander over to the shop. Ivy had taken over opening most days at this point which was a joy. Dante had never been fond of having to deal with people until about noon. After she had worked off some energy, had some food in her and a couple cups of coffee down it was almost blissful to stroll into the shop. Ivy really was an angel and it worked well for Ivy too which was even better.
Most of her work today would be on the custom order the mechanic had been designing from the ground up. Having to learn a whole new branch of… Science? Was Magic a type of science? Honestly fuck, she wasn’t sure. Either way, a text would be sent off to Tobias: ‘Hey! I’m thinking early August for your car. No later than the 7th, that good?’ before she’d settle back into work. The great thing about commissions? They were interesting!!!. The bad thing about commissions? They were too interesting and Dante often forgot to eat until her stomach was growling, and she was wondering why she felt a little light-headed.
A simple order was put in with the Good Diner and an energy drink was quickly downed for the calories - the order was two plain grilled chicken breast, two baked potatoes with no fixings, two servings of steamed broccoli, two fried eggs and an order of family sized dinner salad (no dressing, non-salad items on the side) - and Dante would bounce out to Dart, drive over and pick up the order without much thought. Anyone around while she waited would be pleasantly chatted with if they seemed open to such but otherwise Dante was happy to get her order and be on her way back to the shop. Thankfully, trust had been earned with the diner over the last few months and Dante didn’t believe anyone on their staff worked for Spider or would have any reason to poison her. You could never be too careful with anything you put in your body and Dante was always paranoid around food.
Either way it was back to the shop to chow down - a few text messages were sent off to amuse herself while she ate - but it wouldn’t take long before Dante was back at work.
As the day wound to a close and various employees of the shop saw themselves out for the day Dante would wish each one a goodnight as they left. She’d been trying to build a shop that anyone would be proud to say they were connected to and that included checking in on her employees. Wishing them good mornings and good nights and giving rides when it was needed or even paycheck advances if it seemed like it would help. Thankfully, with the commissions? The shop had that kind of cash in its back pocket that they’d never be in the red again. Not that Dante was fully going to let anyone in the shop know that.
Either way, Dante would casually work to close down the shop - she’d always kind of liked closing - wiping down spots of grease, hanging up tools in their places, rearranging a few of their stocked items and finally standing by as the big bay doors finally crept to a close. Her next project after Tobias’ car was these damn metal door movers. While it was a safety feature for them to close so slowly, she was about to lose her damn mind some days with how much fucking time they took. Literal minutes.
Sighing the final key would lock the final door and the shop would be closed for the night. With that Dante would settle herself down into Dart - hands lovingly smoothing over the steering wheel, like every time she entered the car - before starting Dart up and heading home to make dinner and tinker just a bit more.]
