Re: In person: Dietre / Hugh
Hugh's smile followed the dogs for a minute, and for an instant his mind wandered into a series of possibilities that he had mostly tried to avoid thinking about, but Dietre brought him back to the present moment and he crossed towards the bar cart, picking out a couple of glasses and deciding to pour them both an Old Fashioned because the Bourbon was out.
He handed the glass over along with a smile, and he swallowed trying not to be too worried about the whole thing himself. "You know, I hope so," he offered, perhaps a little uncertainly. "I mean, I think it will be." For once. For once, Hugh didn't have the same set of uncertainties that typically had accompanied his having any sort of long term relationship talk.
That said. He wasn't really certain how to begin. There was a pause, as he considered words, and then once he started, they kept stumbling out. "I think we're on the same page, maybe. But I guess that was... like... I've been not on the same page before, and it frankly fucking sucked, and I'd rather not do that again, so I think I just... didn't want to... not say things?" He took a sip of the drink. "Because honestly, I feel like the first relationship I wanted to be in, I didn't say anything for like a year, and that royally backfired, and then the last relationship I wanted to be in, I said something, and I later wondered if I shouldn't, but um..." he drew in a breath. "I'm rambling."
