In person: Dietre / Hugh
Two trains of thought were fighting for prominence in Dietre’s mind. One was the reappearance of Liam’s spirit and what he could do about it, the other was Hugh and their impending discussion of their relationship. It’d be easier to focus on just Hugh and distract himself from his darker thoughts if it weren’t for the fact he lived right on the lake where Liam died.
Dietre was more anxious than ever over the possibility of seeing the dead man as he approached Hugh’s home. His gaze swept over the many rustling shadows along the trees and the glitter of moonlight on the water just beyond. Luckily, Sieglinde was with him, Dietre was sure she’d alert him if anything approached him, living or dead. He squeezed her leash tight as he hurried to the door and rang the bell, hoping to spend as little time outside as possible (not that walls could stop a ghost.)
When the door was opened he felt a flood of relief. Mingled with it was the joy he always felt at seeing Hugh. “Good evening, liebling.” Having grown comfortable with showing affection with Hugh, he followed his greeting with a kiss to the man’s cheek.
