Re: Easy + Audrey: the Neighborhood
Why? Why was she doing this? To keep up some form of normalcy. She needed to. She had to--unless things changed, and soon. It was an uncomfortable situation to not be in control. It was a deep itch that couldn't be scratched. She didn't like it. It was foreign, wrong, and weird and considering who she was and where she came from? That was saying a lot.
She did notice he didn't look at her, part of it made her slightly suspicious. Had the boys decided to talk to him as well? Unlikely. Possible, but unlikely. Perhaps he had an aversion to women. She could guess and guess and guess, but she didn't. She let it be. It's all she could do in the flesh prison she found herself in. Stupid girl, stupid, stupid girl. All her planning and hope dashed--well, there was still a bit of hope, but it was thin and frayed and almost laughable for something like her.
Her eyes locked on his for the brief moment his mild expression was directed on her. There was moment of silence. "Deal," she said simply. "Do you need money up front, a half now deal?" She stooped down, bending over to start gathering books in her arms. "A job for a job, of course." Her hair slipped forward shielding her profile from his view. He wasn't much of a talker. Not that it bothered her. A lack of talking lead to a lack of questioning and chit chat. She hated chit chat.
Audrey didn't like this. Audrey didn't like that she was alone with a man. Audrey didn't like that she was getting desperate. And she? She huffed, and twitched inwardly at Audrey's protests.
Demons can't afford moral compasses.
But Audrey said she promised.
Promises could be broken.
She stood up, books pressed to her chest. Besides, he might be difficult. Not an easy Easy. "Mind handing me the garbage can behind you?"
