For a brief moment, his arms tightened, impossibly tight, gripping at him as though he would be torn away any moment. He kissed whatever was closest, the side of his neck, Seven's jaw, the other's words rumbling through him, heard just as much as they were felt.
And then... he relaxed. But it wasn't quite the relaxing of muscles, but the evaporation of his presence. Whatever fates that had aligned that allowed him to be there, to visit him like this, were falling to pieces. Liam could feel it happening, could feel the way he was dissolving, and he pulled back with a look of abject terror in those cloudy eyes. "I love you, Sev-"
The words cut off as the man dissolved into dust, like sand slipping through a cupped hand. Only the smell of the lake remained in his absence, the only sign that he had been there in that dream.
