Re: Woods: Holly and Rafe
Yeah, that would've sounded kinda familiar to Holly. Look, before this place? He'd thought soldiers faced gunfire, right? But he hadn't imagined what the fuck the government could subject people to. Even all his conspiracy-theory shit, the stuff he was so into reading? It hadn't ever felt really real. It had been like entertainment, conjecture, shit that was so far out there was no way it could be true. And then he'd ended up here, and he'd learned better. I mean, even the guy who had died here? The him who had died here? That guy had legit been exploded while testing something that wasn't common knowledge, so, right. The military sucked balls, at least in Holly's estimations. But it had changed him, and there was no doubting that he was more capable as a result, you know, even if he didn't realize it himself.
Before that? He would've stayed the fuck away from these woods, but now he wanted to know, and he was willing to take the risk to find out. So, here he was, and fingers crossed neither of them got sucked into another timeline while they were smelling a literally stinking tree.
And he was blunt with this guy, but he figured that was safe; Rafe was out here smelling sulfur, and he knew about Audrey, and both of those things meant this conversation? Had a certain level of safety to it. "Right, but have you met Audrey? She's the most un-supernatural thing that's ever existed." But, okay, there was the thing Noah experienced the night Audrey went missing, and Holly let that marinate a second, you know, combined with the sulfur thing. And he agreed with Rafe; this shit wasn't military, and it wasn't random. "So, what? Someone takes her somewhere, fucks with her head, and then sends her back? To what end? Is she spying on us... or?" Because, okay, if Audrey wanted them dead? Or if whoever sent Audrey here wanted them dead? Then they'd be dead, right? And it wasn't like she could overpower anyone, not without some serious power onboard.
He dragged his fingers along the grass, and then he rubbed his thumb and forefinger together slowly. "I don't think the supernatural, whatever the supernatural is, needs any of us for anything, right?" He looked over at the guy, and his expression said he knew better; if some supernatural entity wanted people for something? What better people than the powered freaks in Repose? Again, he thought about Noah jerking awake the night Audrey went missing. "Something definitely took her," he finally said, and he stood and straightened with a groan.
