Re: [Road: Holly NW and Audrey C]
He turned onto Main, and there was the relief of the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. Because Audrey didn't know her own name? Which was crazy. Trauma, right? But, man, he did not like the idea of forgetting himself, and that freaked him out. Like, waking up and not knowing yourself? That was some wild shit, and, yeah, no, thanks. And he thought this shit, this thing, was going to affect people a lot longer than he'd realized. Because if she remembered shit? Then she could at least tell them what happened, and with that knowledge would come some sense that they could control it, right? Keep it from happening to them. But if she didn't have any answers? Yeah, well, more fucking sleepless nights for Repose.
She rubbed at her arms, and he glanced over. In the glow of the Jeep's dashboard lights, he could see red marks on her arms. Great. Just, great. "You're Audrey," he told her. Maybe that was the wrong thing to do, but whatever; he was way too young to know what to do in this situation, and the thought made him groan; he sounded like Jamie, blaming shit on his age. Whatever, whatever, whatever, right?
"Just a little further," he assured her, and he was kinda just talking to fill the silence in the Jeep. He wasn't sure she could even grasp the shit he was saying to her. "What happened to your arms?"
