I could smell ink, something like menthol (I'm not sure what it was exactly), burning, and sulphur. The whole room reeked of it. Honestly, it was so strong that it was almost hard to breathe. I couldn't hear anything in the house: no footsteps, no creaking, no growling. Nothing that didn't belong. The house itself was neat but Audrey's room was a mess, like a tornado had ripped through it. If there was anything missing I wouldn't have been the person to notice since I've never been there before. But I said to Hugh it didn't look like whatever made the mess was looking for something -- it just looked like they'd trashed the room. There was no one specific point where it started either, from what I could tell. The whole thing was overturned. There were no signs of forced entry, in Audrey's room specifically and through the house as a whole. We checked the backyard and saw nothing unusual there, and Hugh checked the ground floor of the house while I headed upstairs. No temperature shifts that I could detect, the whole house felt the same. There was no blood anywhere in the house. Not a drop of it.
If someone, or something, walked through that mess in Audrey's room then I couldn't tell you how they did it without leaving any signs, because I sure as hell couldn't detect any. No obvious breakages from body weight, no path through the wreckage, nothing like that. [...] And Audrey's scent was the only one in the room. [...] And that's where her scent ended as well. Dead end, I mean.
