Re: [Woods: Atticus & Eames]
Eames had never really been lazy. Not that he hadn't been inclined, weren't most, if they could get away with it? But there'd been a shocking lack of opportunity to be both lazy and to make money and of the two, Eames had needed the latter more than he'd ever required the former. He liked to pretend to be lazy, largely to irritate Arthur, if anyone and he certainly liked sleep far more than he liked anything else, apart from sex.
But sex was the topic of conversation, even if they were lightly brushing past it. "I find it's good to be certain who is or isn't making a regular thing of sleeping with somebody," Eames said, with the air of casual understanding that his next would be understood, "Very unlucky to sleep with someone meant to be sleeping with someone else, everyone gets their knickers in a twist," he grinned, and it was perfect experience speaking and a little teasing played straight back. "Odd ducks, on the other hand, I don't think there are many rules. As a rule."
It was true, the world did deal with information, none knew that better than Eames who dug about in people's heads while they dreamed to get at it. His smile was knowledgeable, and a little canted ironic. "People use information any way they like. But Janus isn't one of those who gives it about all over the place. I don't know, darling. I don't know the ins and outs of the two of you well enough. I know he was mad about you, at some point." Eames used he deliberately, here.
The man didn't give anything away about runes, and Eames remarked on it, "You're not someone who splashes information about either, are you? Island life sounds desperately dull to me. No one to talk to but the birds, I would guess. I miss cities," he said confidingly. "I loved Mumbai."
