Re: Dietre A./Hugh C.: On the patio
The gears were turning in Dietre’s head and it was all over his face. One voice told him to do it, another told him to not dare, and he was caught in between. He sat there with his brow knotted, almost as nervous and awkward as he had been the day they met.
“Okay, um… We’ll see each other soon, then, right?” He hesitated as if on the verge of saying more, the moment stretched, but then it seemed cowardice won out and he put his hand on the door handle to leave. He gave Hugh an embarrassed smile. “Have a good day, Hugh…”
He waited for Hugh’s goodbye before getting out of the car. After shutting the door behind him he hovered for a moment as if still debating something internally. He turned toward the house and slowly headed toward it, but half way up the walk he abruptly turned to quickly stride back to the car before Hugh could drive off, his expression suddenly grim and determined. Instead of getting into the passenger seat, he walked around the front of the car to stand at the driver’s side window. He knocked on the glass and motioned for Hugh to lower it.
When the window rolled down he explained in a serious tone, “I forgot something...”
Another moment’s hesitation, consequences and regrets floating around in his mind. But it was too late, it was now or never. So, he leaned into the open window, reaching out a hand to first slip a hand behind Hugh’s neck, then up into his hair to cradle the back of his head. He tried not to look into the man’s eyes, he simply shut his own and just went for it. A kiss. Full on the lips and firm, though Hugh was free to pull away if he wanted, Dietre’s hand was not holding him in place.
One of his biggest regrets when it came to Liam was that he had never kissed him. Well, that wouldn’t be the case with Hugh. No matter where they relationship went, at least he had this one thing for sure.
