Re: LIVING ROOM (Near the fireplace): Hugh C./Rafe J.
Standing near to the fireplace gave Rafe a good view of the room at large as well as putting a wall at his back. The wolf didn't care to leave itself exposed around this many unknown entities, and he had already taken note of more than a couple of slightly peculiar (and thoroughly unfamiliar) scents in the time he'd been inside the house which wasn't so much large as it was massive. He had found himself wondering just how many rooms there were in total and as much as he had been quietly itching to go exploring and find out for himself there were any number of ways that could blow up in his face. So he had refrained and found a large enough room to occupy so that the wolf wouldn't feel boxed in because the last thing he wanted to do was ruin Hugh's party by causing any kind of scene.
His own glass held neat whiskey, no rocks, and even before he'd taken his first sip he had known it was a damned good quality one at that. The scent of it had promised as much and he hadn't been disappointed. It was a struggle not to drink that first glass at a faster pace just so he could get another one but for appearance's sake he had to take it easy. Rafe had had to try and explain his abnormally high tolerance to eagle-eyed observers before and he was in no rush to repeat the experience. At least if he ate a lot he could just use the tried and tested high metabolism excuse, and it helped that that wasn't a lie either.
Having spotted Hugh approaching Rafe was able to give the other man a smile as the gap between them closed. He followed it up with a chuckle at the other man's words, even though there was a very real possibility of jinxing the whole evening. It might have been a slim chance, but it wasn't one either of them were willing to take, it seemed. "I get by," he said by way of response, lifting his glass a little with another smile. "And yourself? Well enough to put all this together, obviously, but--" He left it open after that, taking a moment to drink from the glass, inviting Hugh to fill him in on any details about the last few days that he might feel like sharing.
