It was real sweet of Damian not to reckon he, Burden, was mad as hatters. Burden, oddly enough, wasn't thinking this was on account of madness neither. He wouldn't be surprised to learn he was addled, but he didn't reckon that was what it was. Now, he wasn't sure what was happening, but he didn't think Damian was addled neither.
"I didn't expect to come out here, meet you, find out there was something going on I didn't recall." There were other things he hadn't expected neither, but right now this was forefront. "I reckoned I'd come study, steal some art, and then settle in with Father Amos to a congregation and a life spent at prayer," he said honestly. He looked over at the other boy, who was smoking and not looking his way, saying words that didn't seem tied to a thing. "But then I met you," he added, plain.
