Re: adrian's place; dietre & hugh
They'd do it again, then, maybe. And Hugh could tell himself it was just a friend that he could do more things with, but he wasn't certain that was the truth, and was even less certain as Dietre stepped in to press his cheek against Hugh's.
A hug shouldn't have had the effect upon him that it did. It shouldn't have set butterflies fluttering and shouldn't have made him feel breathless when Dietre pulled back, or left him momentarily searching for the right words.
Maybe it was good Dietre had averted his face, because if he'd been looking Hugh didn't think the impact would have been something that could be missed, and he pulled in a breath and tried to find words again. "I -" For a moment he was going to say no, after all it wasn't like he needed someone to walk with him or anything, but then on the other hand... he stepped to the side, reaching back for the suit jacket, although he didn't put it back on instead opting to drape it over his arm as he turned back around. "It's been a lovely evening, Dietre," he finally returned, and he offered a smile. "And if you want to walk me to the car, I won't say no."
