Re: adrian's place; dietre & hugh
Hugh knew he was a physical person. He liked touch and if you were among his close friends, there was a good chance you got hugged, or hands squeezed, or cuddled with. One of the worst parts of being alone when he’d first come to Repose had been not having anyone to touch, which probably had fed into his call to Hannah, and then everything that spiralled out of that. These days, he touched more regularly, with Zee living with him, and Dante as a friend, there were people he could hug and pull in around the waist, but that didn’t mean the warmth of the hand against his was any less appreciated. Hugh knee he didn’t always reach out quite as easily to Dietre, after all, he wasn’t oblivious to Dietre’s shyness, and never wanted to be someone who made someone else uncomfortable, but every touch made it a little easier to reach for a hand the next time too.
He gave Dietre a smile as the other man slipped away to start a new piece. “Fancy, I don’t know, lifts maybe I mean, didn’t we talk about those?” He was teasing clearly. Neither of them were exactly likely to be able to lift the other unless Dietre had some super strength that Hugh was unaware of, which if he did, not would be the moment to impress him with it. “Maybe a spin,” he edged back instead. Smiling almost instantly at Dietre’s now and the hand offered.
It was charming, and Hugh liked the hand offered and the look he gave Dietre just then showed that he was pleased even as he grinned broadly, and touched his hand to his chest as if surprised. “The handsome gentleman wishes to dance with me?”
