Re: adrian's place; dietre & hugh
When asked if he had led, Dietre scoffed. “You must not know Damian.” He couldn’t imagine Damian allowing anyone to exhibit power over him, even if it was just in a dance.
“But… as I don’t really know what I’m doing, I think you should probably lead?” At least at first. It did not matter to Dietre which position he learned, as he very much doubted he would be dancing with anyone but Hugh. Even if he did, he always preferred to follow, he’d happily let his partner lead if it took some responsibility off of himself. He didn’t care about being ‘the man’ in this sort of situation.
“Um… Maybe we could just start?” That’s how he and Damian had danced at the ball. The only instruction the smaller man had given him was simply to follow his lead and try not to think about what he was doing. It worked at the time, but that was because Damian distracted him by being his usual irritating self and Dietre’s temper did the rest.
Before saying anything more, Dietre flipped a small switch in front of the piano’s keys, then reached inside to flip another, hidden switch and caused the instrument to whir and the rolls to spin. He had already prepared the roll beforehand so that he wouldn’t have to do any fussing. It was one of the ones he bought online and he didn’t know much about it other than it had been categorized as a waltz. He bought it because the title stuck out to him.
As the music began to play, he stepped out to an open area of the floor, turning to Hugh with a sheepish look. “I’m ready, I think?”
