adrian's place; dietre & hugh
It did, in fact make sense, and Hugh nodded at it. He could remember lines or lyrics pretty quickly - particularly lyrics because it felt like when you put words to music, it was just something he picked up. They might make a good pair the two of them, Hugh couldn't help but think. Dietre could pick up the music and Hugh the notes, and stick them together on a stage, and they'd have a lot of fun between them. It was a thought that made him smile, like karaoke only with live accompaniment and he wondered if Dietre would be up for something like that. Dietre seemed at ease playing the piano like Hugh was when he was singing and performing, and it did set his mind to wandering.
But that train of thought was interrupted with the next piece, and Hugh found himself watching, somewhat in awe, but also with a bit of a pleased smile presenting itself on his face, because his instinct had been right about the auditioning, and about encouraging Dietre to set a decent salary for his playing, because - sure, maybe he didn't know piano playing at all, but he knew how a performance made him feel, and he knew that this one wasn't simple to learn, without knowing anything else about it. And by the time it wrapped around to the end, Hugh was out and out beaming.
He let the notes hang for a moment, before he let the enthusiasm actually get spoken: "You're incredible."
