Re: [Woods: Gwen/Melody/The Sheriff]
[Gwen didn't stop her pacing to answer Melody's question.] If one of us can get free, then it's better than neither of us managing it. It's only if he tries to take us in. He can't chase us both, and that way one of us is assured freedom. If we get dragged back, then escaping again isn't going to be easy, and this shouldn't all be for nothing. [Even with her teeth chattering, Gwen sounded determined. Beneath her scrubs and that hoodie, she was covered in marks from lines and ports, and she looked too pale to be healthy, and it wasn't just the cold. The new League scientists were harsh and determined to accomplish their tasks, and they had none of the humanity her previous scientist had. If she went back, she wasn't sure how long she'd survive, and that didn't even take into account the mounting emotional duress of incarceration.
Which, she knew, was totally whiny, because Melody had been locked up forever.] I was outside once. It was before the train, and I met a boy on the train tracks. He drew a chalk garden, and it looked super pretty under the moon. [She crouched with a bit of a hiss of pain, but she continued her enthusiastic storytelling with perseverance of youth.] Then, I went to a diner, and I had pie that was completely devoid of nutritional testing or processing. I talked to the guy there for a while, and he was totally like the guy from Gilmore Girls. That's one of my favorite shows. I totally like Dean better than Jess. [She blew on her hands, but they were already super blue.] What's your favorite show?
