[Woods: Gwen/Melody/The Sheriff]
[Truth be told, Melody had no idea how she did it either. It was just something she could do, like breathing, like talking. Something built into her that no one really understood, most of all the scientists at the lab. That's why they kept her there, she knew. They wanted to understand her. And maybe they also wanted to keep her safe.
But here, they had thrown all that out the window with their escape, and here they were in the woods, shivering and alone without the sorts of supplies that people ought to have. Just as ill-prepared as Gwen was, Melody was in blue scrubs of her own, not even a jacket, and only slipper socks on her feet. Gooseflesh pimpled her arms as she gave them a rub, finally taking a seat at the base of one of the trees that surrounded them both. Gwen was pacing, and Melody watched, arms around her legs, pulled up tight against her chest.] Do you really think it'd be good to get separated here? If he doesn't agree to not take us back?
