Re: At the Spooky House: Muerte / Eddie
Eddie liked quick fixes, shortcuts and bending the rules. He had always touted his intelligence and yet nearly always cheated even if he knew the answers. As a child, he'd lie, cheat and steal his way to every victory even though he could have done it the right way. It wasn't because he wanted a challenge, it was because he doubted himself. He feared trying at something and failing. For a while, that part of him was healed and he put his best foot forward without any trickery. But, lately, with all the failures and trips along the way, he felt himself yearning for an easy fix. Maybe magic? Drugs at a madhouse. Leaving town? Becoming a villain full time again. All easy fixes that would leave him with nothing.
Still he answered: "Ah, maybe something creative? Perhaps I'll teach a class at the rec room." It couldn't hurt, right?
Eddie shook his head when she told him to ask for help. An automatic response of someone who had been trying to do everything on his own. The headshake slowly turned into a nod, once he realized what he was doing. "Yes, of course. Er- I'm sure the solution will be a lot more simple than either of us realize!" He said with hope, even if neither of them really believed it.
"This town is crawling with weirdness. Even if he doesn't accept it now, he will eventually. Everyone here knows there's something awful, but no one will voice it. He's stepped into the world of the unknown, a place we are familiar with. And, hopefully he's smart enough to know that ignoring it won't work either." Eddie seemed resolute, even strangely moral about the whole thing. It sounded a lot like how Eddie was when he and Bruce worked closely together. Good for all, sort of thing. "And, fine. You and Cat and the others aren't interested in me sticking my neck out for you. But, ignoring it isn't going to make it go away. It'll fester. I'm-" he shook his head with a sigh. "So tired of seeing things fester."
