Re: [Above Webster's, in Daniel's place: Hannah & Daniel, + Si.]
Daniel stood (as only as polite) but he made absolutely no objection when Hannah-Amy was swept up into her brother's arms. In fact, he approved, and smiled again, breaking the corpse-like paleness of his face and once again resembling the eccentric gentleman he was the majority of the time. "You and you both are welcome at your convenience, Miss Hannah-Amy," he said, all civility. He moved a few steps as Si moved out the door, and bowed ever so slightly at Si's back and Hannah-Amy's upturned face.
Somehow he was behind Si's elbow, holding the door open, by the time the man reached the portal, and he navigated the doorknob out of Si's way as he directed Hannah-Amy's feet out of the frame. "Perhaps you may write to me when you are well, your brother permitting," Daniel said, in response to the offer. In another world he would have told the woman to apply to his housekeeper, but that was a world far away. Perhaps he should find better accommodations.
