She watched his brows. Up and up, and she didn't try to take the phone. At the edge of the bed, and she tucked one leg up beneath her and then the next, and then she knelt there, at the edge of the bed and regarding him. Still cocked head, curious, but her voice a whisper. Because it had to be a whisper. "I like tea, as long as it's only tea," she told him. "And the house is alive. We're in it, and it's alive. Didn't you know?" She blinked slowly. "It doesn't ever sleep, the house, and it has a heart that beats and a belly that's hungry."
