You could say that, but the best musicals showcase the skills of their performers. Gene Kelly, for instance, one of the best dancers of all time. Patrick Swayze was also really amazing. The singing and dancing should move the story forward if it's doing the genre well.
Which, to be fair, Singing in the Rain has some scenes that are pretty straight up just dancing and not really moving forward the story, but you will never hear me say a thing against it.
If you don't enjoy dance and song, I'll return to Casablanca as a classic, or you could go with suspense and try something by Hitchcock, or you could go with something very current and critically acclaimed like Parasite or Knives Out.
There are a lot of really amazing films from a storytelling and crafting standpoint, but what you might enjoy I always feel like is really personal.
