Re: Near the Front Door: Dante & Mars
It was likely evident by a continued rendition of Mars' lackadaisical look that she didn't really have any idea who Audrey was. A curious element to the story considering she was standing, dressed like a bargain bin version of an Egyptian Queen, the in the gal's house. But Mars had the attention span of an under-medicated, under-vaccinated millennial... which meant something according to the FOX news segment that morning, which she had conveniently tuned out the details of. Then, the name occurred to her: "Oh, the room mate. Right." She'd seen the name Audrey before somewhere.
There was a lot of joking going on, but humor was a natural element to first introductions when everybody was dancing the knife's edge of being well-liked or just walking away in relief. "Is Audrey a people-pleaser?" Because Mars knew the type. "Her and Hannah can start a club." Was that too bitter-flavored for a joke? Mars, as an after thought twirled a gold-ringed finger to reference the house pasty. "I guess it looks like they already have."
But enough hating on her sister, Mars' smile developed with even more sincerity at the prospect of sugar. "Solid. Is there chocolate?"
