Re: Kitchen: Hugh & Hannah & Zee
Hannah didn't know if Hugh had told Zee anything about things, and she didn't expect it, really. She knew Hugh had been hesitant to tell Audrey, and Hannah wasn't upset by that at all. It would be maybe kind of hard to explain how things had begun with Hugh, and the ending would be hard too, and it would be kind of hard to jump right into the middle. And Hannah, herself, was far too apt to just say the things that came to mind, and she was pretty sure that would be too honest and too messy, so she didn't offer anything up about anything at all.
She just smiled at the woman, at Zee, and her smile was bright and open, honest and true, and she was really, really happy Hugh had someone in the big, big lakehouse with him. As she'd told him, he wasn't really made for being alone.
"I think it's kind of Audrey's house," she said, glancing up at the ceiling while she talked about the house. "She lets me live here," she added, sounding not bothered by that even a little, and it was definitely how Hannah regarded the house. It was a stop, a place to enjoy for a little a while, but not truly hers. "But I did hang the lights. Well, with some help," she added, crinkling her nose a little as she admitted to the truth. "Hugh told me you were in town, and I was glad to hear it. He needs someone over there to make sure he doesn't work too hard, and that he isn't too serious about things," she joked, saying the last bit in a Very Serious Manner, and with only a little bit of laughter to completely invalidate the teasing. "You're welcome," she added, and then she cocked her head to the side, tilt and tip, and curious as a little bird. "Where are you from? Hugh never said. Did you?" This time, she crinkled her nose in Hugh's direction. It was late at night, and her memory wasn't really good as the day progressed.
