Re: Near the food: Hugh & Dietre
“Yes, please text me. That would be good.” Dietre still needed to get his schedule sorted with the restaurant. He had wanted to tell Hugh all about it, but he’d forgotten in the face of this disaster. He wasn’t in the mood to be sharing good news at the moment.
Zee? What sort of name was that? Dietre’s brow furrowed. He didn’t think it suited the girl he saw. Perhaps it was a nickname. If it was, then that was another sign of closeness between her and Hugh, wasn’t it? He listened to the man’s explanation of her with a serious expression, unsure what to make of it. Why was she here if they hadn’t seen each other in years? Those negative voices in his head were not about to provide comfort by reminding him how often Hugh spoke of loneliness, because if he was lonely then he wasn’t with Zee. No, Dietre wasn’t going to allow himself the hope that that line of thinking would give.
“Um. You don’t need to, but…” Dietre glanced toward the door. Escape from all of this was just beyond it. “Alright.” He agreed to be escorted out. Really, what choice did he have?
