Re: Jamie & Hannah (& open to any Mayer+ types): kitchen
He kinda expected Amy. It was after all, her party even if like, literally all of it was sugared-almond sweet in a way that made Jamie think of Audrey, and the pink ribbon she wrapped around her ballet bun, making it pretty even in a gross practice room that was also a yoga studio and a place where the neighbohood held lamaze classes. But Jamie expected his sisters, one tiny and scarlet and the other tall and willowy and he even expected maybe David, who showed up like the familial shadow, long in the footsteps of Amy more than anyone, possibly because she more than anyone made Jamie think of like, the memories he had of Molly.
But he didn't expect her like, right THEN. Not with water dripping down his fingers from where he'd jostled the glass, dripping like way costume-appropriate, over the cheap thrift-store suit. They had talked. About fitting in, and about not fitting in and Jamie couldn't exactly make up for obliviousness from sixteen, tangled up in the sticky threads of his own life, but he was getting a bigger, maybe a better picture of Amy now, as opposed to Amy at home, before. Amy now was wearing something soft, that was smudged stars and tangled beads that made him think of the costume Titania had, in the Dream. Old romantics, the kind of ballet where the skirts tangled the girls' knees, and it dragged a little down her elbows.
He hugged her. Inhaled the scent of outside air, clean and dust as her hair whorled against his chin, and he was kinda, like, less awkward about the whole thing? Affection was a thing and he'd spent like, hours and hours wound up on a couch and it made the whole idea of the hug way easy, less complicated. He didn't think about it, other than looking at the part in her hair as she looked over both shoulders - probably? To see Seven.
"Hey. Yeah," Jamie grinned. It wasn't at all Gene Kelly, that grin, it was a little undefined, but it firmed up the longer he looked at her. "Morrison. It's a definite mood. You look awesome, where's that from?"
