Re: Foot of the stairs: Burden/Audrey
Audrey didn't know the ins and outs of priesthood. All that it actually pertained. She was not brought up in a spiritual home. There was no church, no prayers, nothing of the sort. She couldn't even recall if it was ever even discussed. What she knew came from books, movies, and musicals. So to say she had barely scratched the service of understanding of what he was truly doing? Was an understatement, but she didn't mind learning. She always felt there was room to know the world more, even if she wasn't the most eloquent in her endeavors. Empathy seemed sorely lacking in the world these days--and from what she little she had seen ... it was so much needed in churches and the hearts of it goers. Burden fit it like a glove with his understanding and tone. Maybe that's what Jesus sounded like; he would invite his followers in with a gentleness unknown to them. Her head canted.
Her eyes lit up when he talked about studying in Tennessee, not only was it a place she had never been to, he was discussing a rather fun aspect of his life. Togetherness seemed extremely important to him and it was touching, again, suited who he seemed to be--what little she knew. Learning a bit by bit more with every word. "You taught choir? Why am I not surprised. You love music. I bet that's something they won't forget either, you know? Music and plays--stories--they're something that sticks with people for a long, long time. They're important. Also, I doubt they'll be able to forget that coat." Her smile stretched out ever so slightly. "...mm, I think so too. It's warm, inviting. I think just about everyone is drawn to warmth."
Her mouth opened and then shut again, nose a crinkled nub. "It's easier to talk about those things online. People can't see my fangirl face." She gestured to herself sheepishly shrugging. "...she didn't just invent fanciful things, a few were yes, like the rock-retrieval device to gather stones that had been skipped on water, well in the book she thought of it--in the show she was able to make it, which made me happy." Audrey straightened. "Even though she and her siblings had terrible thing after terrible thing happen to them, she kept on. She was intelligent, herself and strong in ways that aren't always associated with strength in what the cliche 'strong female character' is. She perseveres. She created a lock pick device and a grappling hook, all to help her and her siblings." Audrey's teeth clicked shut finally. "See? Get me comfortable and going and I ramble." She offered a side glance.
"An-anyway." Audrey shook her head, Burden's gaze was always soft, openly friendly and some times that threw her. Not in a bad way, per say, in a way that she was still yet unaccustomed. It was sort of like Hannah, when Hannah could actually focus and wasn't far in a way in a place Audrey couldn't follow. "How about I dish up a plate or two for you to take back to the dorms?" She offered without reservation. "That way if you want to share? There will be plenty. Sharing food is one of the best things in the world, right?"
