Re: Near the food: Hugh & Dietre
Hugh finished off the last bite of the remaining food on the plate, and consolidated plate and fork into one hand so that he could reach over and give Dietre a quick hug around his shoulders. "Then I'm glad I caught you for a moment," he offered the man in front of him. "I'm -" he waved a hand. "It is really late, but I had a - well a show tonight, my play opens this weekend!" It was obvious he was excited about this, and really there was a sort of high that he was riding simply from the fact that it had opened, and he'd done well, and there would be reviews tomorrow - which, god he hated the 'will they suck' moment - but for this particular moment he was certain they would be good, and his face reflected that.
"Audrey and Hannah said it'd be alright if I came by after, so," he waved a hand at himself, and then took a look at Dietre specifically.
Hugh didn't know the other man well, and it was the first time they'd been face to face since Audrey had given Hugh her suspicion about Dietre being interested in him. And that was something that by and large Hugh had decided to ignore - right now he wanted friends, and he was probably a mess when it came to romantic anything - but he realized his gaze was lingering longer than it maybe should on the other man's face, and he took in the posture, and the look on Dietre's face, and his own smile lessened a bit. At the moment, he wasn't certain he saw whatever it was Audrey had thought she'd seen. If anything it felt as if Dietre would like to run, but maybe Hugh was misreading that or Dietre was just tired. It was late.
"You should come some weekend? If you'd like? I don't know if you have any interest in theatre, but if you do..." He wished he'd seen something to drink somewhere. He had a flask in his coat pocket, but he'd left the coat in the coat closet, so it would be no help just now. "Has it been a good evening?"
