I agree with all your answers. Where it gets complicated is juggling multiple options to help. Like suddenly the question is not just a family in a van, but there's a multi-car pile-up and you need to help the family with the van but also worry about making sure the woman in labour gets to the hospital AND you may be the one who can get the car that has someone in it open. And I think we could both prioritise that for ourselves, but maybe not so easily if there are other people around. Maybe they can help with one of the problems but not another. Sometimes you don't have time to make a considered decision because the help is needed NOW. And sometimes you have to step back or you can burn yourself out and then you're no good to anybody. All of which is extra complicated.
