Re: [Log: Gym-to-be, Marta and Holly]
Yeah, the 'gay, vanilla, missionary' got a very skeptical eyebrow in return. "Mmm-hm." Even the soft hum of Marta's 'agreement' sounded far from believing. Not that she expected explicit details of Holly and Noah's sex life - thanks, but no thanks - but she didn't have to believe what Holly was saying, either. But the seriousness though, like he was trying to convince her? When he didn't have to. And they were definitely steering clear of the hugging, but when Holly smiled like that, she reached out with one finger and poked his forearm, just once, before retreating again. "Expectation, but not reality." She smiled too - not the dopey sort of grin he was sporting, but it was warm, and not exactly common for her. "I'll invoice you."
She'd caught on to the fact that Holly didn't pull many punches, but he said what he thought and was direct about it. And honestly, most days that was easier and better than any sort of ass patting. She knew where he stood, and it helped her process things easier when she didn't have to wade through hidden thoughts or motivations. He was still an asshole though, and the return to the minivan earned him an eyeroll and a very un-housewifey middle finger directed his way.
And since he did her the favor of not beating around any sort of bush, she returned bluntness with some of her own, with a lifted hand and a gentle tap of one finger to her temple. "Damage. Stress makes it hard." Worse - the word she was looking for was worse, but 'hard' would have to do. She took a moment to imagine the pasta judging her life choices, and that made her relax at least a little. Not that it made the topic any easier. "Tried. And it," she rolled her eyes and returned to their previous conversation, "tanked. Up to her. But I don't know. If he'll ask." Sandwich all but forgotten, she leaned back in her chair and brought her left leg up as well, tucking it over the right. "I was... mad. I said Tommy should call instead. When they tell me no." She sighed at the situation and at herself - how her reactions obviously hadn't made anything any better during that last conversation with Seven.
