Re: cottage; ren & adrian
Ren watched without any particular expectation of judgment. He'd determined a while back that they would take this step by step and it would take the time that it took. Sure, he wanted it to be sooner rather than later, but that was mostly because he knew Adrian grew tired of the case, even if he didn't say so. Or maybe Ren was projecting what would have been his own unease in a situation. Regardless, he was pretty certain any variant on impatience or shame wouldn't work with Adrian and would just make things worse, and that he knew absolutely because it had crippled him at times.
Ren watched the rock, the way it shuddered, the way the Obscurus appeared, the rock being grasped and thrown. It had been moved. And there had been some movement from Adrian before the Obscurus had jumped in.
"You moved it," Ren pointed out, a statement of the obvious. "The Obscurus may have jumped in there, but it moved."
Ren considered whether he could pull the rock back again, but for the moment he left it stay. It was a ways off, and there were other things that could be moved.
"Did you want it to move there- the trees? Or was that more the Obscurus' idea? I think what I'm wondering here is whether we need to... fight isn't the right word, nor subdue, but I guess, what I'm wondering is can we work with the Obscurus rather than trying to work around it or outside of it? If that makes sense. It's power, obviously." For a moment he stared after the rock, and then he sat down cross legged on the ground and nodded for Adrian to join him.
"We used to do this thing, where we'd mediate, and we'd focus on things around us, visualize, let ourselves connect. Sometimes it was easier to focus after that. Can you see yourself doing it? Not the Obscurus?"
