Re: lakeside mansion; hugh c./dietre a.
“Hm… That, or she’s learned to become a thief,” Dietre said, sounding a little more like himself. Sieglinde always seemed to come to his rescue when he needed her. He loved her dearly and couldn’t hide it in his voice even when he was attempting to scold her a bit. “You can’t take that home with you, mind. It isn’t yours.”
Sieglinde didn’t find it necessary to heed any of this, she knew she wasn’t really in trouble. So when Heart came in search of the stolen toy, she happily began a came of keep away, circling the men to maintain a safe distance from the other dog, tail wagging furiously. She was an obedient dog despite this minor naughtiness, so when Hugh reached down to take the toy, she allowed him to, tongue lolling in a dog grin.
“I think we ought to,” Dietre answered. “I’ve forgotten how much energy she has. I thought being outside would have been enough, but it seems I was wrong.” Perhaps she was just over excited because she was with him again. She was likely to calm back down in a few days, or at least Dietre hoped she would. Otherwise he would have to visit Hugh and Heart quite often. Not that he would mind that… Very much the contrary.
