Re: lakeside mansion; hugh c./dietre a.
Best friends? Dietre had never been best friends with anyone. He knew Hugh was joking, but the term stuck out to him anyway. What was it to even have a best friend, anyway? The fact he had to wonder made him feel all the more alienated from normal, functioning society. Yet Hugh was saying that he was glad he came and was suggesting more visits, which were both good things, so Dietre didn’t quite know how he was supposed to feel just then. He managed another feeble ghost of a smile, “Well… I’d like that.”
“Um… I haven’t quite returned to work just yet. I’ve been told my position is still available, but… I want to take some time to settle in first.” He didn’t think he was quite up to being amongst loud and boisterous people. “I’ve actually gone back to house sitting for someone. We were roommates. Or… maybe we are roommates? I don’t exactly know, but he’s been away and isn’t sure when he can return.” Talking about Adrian made him remember how the man suggested that his going to meet Hugh was some kind of date. He had to quickly dash the thought away before he ended up flustered and tripping over his tongue like a fool.
“So… I’m just about free all the time,” he finished in an embarrassed sort of murmur. There was no one out there vying for his attention. His only responsibilities at the moment were to Sieglinde. “...I live a boring life.”
