Re: [B&B: Dante & Holly]
"I only run if I'm being chased," he deadpanned. He wasn't a sports guy. Noah was, but Holly was all about traditionally hipster stuff, and that so didn't involve running. Holly kinda didn't like the entire concept of sports, so, yeah, and he figured she knew that. He wasn't exactly built like someone who was into sweating. He was big, yeah, but there wasn't any muscle to the guy, even with all the military exercises behind him. And sitting there, dark circles beneath his eyes, he definitely didn't look like running was going to be in his future anytime soon.
He got her caution. He did. But, still, she'd listened to him and, you know, offered help, and there was nothing in it for her. Holly hadn't encountered all that many selfless people in his life, so, "yeah, I'll thank you for trying, regardless of the outcome," he said, and he sounded stubborn about it, so, yeah. Not backing down on that one. And, okay, okay, he heard what she said about phase two. He did, and he got it. It was going to take a while to get there, and it was going to suck to get there. But he was going to try to focus on the fact that he would get there, right? I mean, it almost felt like optimism, but to Holly? It was just need. It was like when he'd set a massive savings goal for himself. He had one of those now, and he would get there, regardless of how many shows he needed to do, or how many videos he needed to sell. He'd get here too, to phase two. He could be seriously fucking stubborn.
And he nodded a moment later, when it became obvious that she was waiting for him to give her the go-ahead to work on shit tonight. Was he worn out and hurting? Sure. Was he willing to keep going? Absolutely.
