Re: [B&B: Dante & Holly]
It was cool, right? The whole brace concept was cool. Cool, interesting, and Holly wasn't showing a lot of interest in shit lately, so it was good. It felt good, and he listened as she talked about the AI. Okay, so it maybe did make him feel more hopeful than he had before. Okay, okay, so it would fucking hurt, but he'd been expecting that. But maybe he could actually get back up on his feet. Being mobile and useful again? Yeah, that would make all the fucking difference, even if there was pain associated. And, nah, she shouldn't be frustrated. This was more hope than the fucking doctors had left him with, so, yeah.
And he was kinda wiped once the brace was in place, but then she was pulling out the exoskeleton and unfolding it to its full size. He whistled, because that was some impressive shit right there. I mean, it would never let him pass for normal, but whatever. "So, no crutches once I have that on," he said, pointing at it, making sure he understood her correctly. And he didn't ask if he'd need it forever. Nah, he was feeling too hopeful to possibly douse himself with cold water by asking.
As for if it was cool? God, yeah. "Crazy-fucking cool. Thanks," he said. "I mean, for doing this. For coming. For all of it. Really, thanks."
And he did have one question: "About how long? I mean, until phase two?" No one could ever accuse him of being patient.
