"Yeah." Confirmation to his first question came easily about the brace adjusting, even if she felt a little bad about it. Being in pain all the time like he was right now? She remembered that. She remembered it with her good leg, and her bad leg, and then with the leg replacement and... Yeah. At his attempts to understand it though she couldn't help a little grin. "See, you're gettin' it. That's exactly what it's doing. Just a bunch of tiny little air pockets inflating and deflating to fill in spots where muscles or ligaments or whatever normally would function or support, so now you'll just have little air bubbles putting pressure there. As you progress through treatment and shit we'll adjust the AI to only apply the needed amount of pressure or compensation so that your body can slowly build back into working through these movements and processes." Honestly, Dante was frustrated with herself over this entire brace situation. She could do better, knew she could do better and a part of her felt like she was failing in helping Holly but with the time and resources she had? This was what they were working with for now. She could upgrade him later.
As he took the smart brace Dante moved to the other, larger, duffle bag and began the process of working the cage type brace out. It would take a little shimmying of the material around the metal to slowly work the all black exoskeleton out of the bag before fully unfolding it to its full size.
"This?" Dante would lead in with her words. "This is phase two. Once we get you all calibrated up and used to that." A nod of her head would be given to the brace he was already working with. "We'll plug the smart brace into this exoskeleton which will support your weight, add additional strength and support to your stance and movements, and put all the pressure of movement largely on your upper thigh and upper calf." Fingers shifted, pointing out the hydraulics she'd built in to take on the strain and force of his size and weight. "This will allow you to get up and moving by taking all strain, force and impact off of the knee while the smart brace - once calibrated - will keep all the pieces in place so they can heal back together right." This was probably a lot to take in and she'd offer Holly a smile.
