It all sounded complicated and all too familiar to Audrey, there were times she honestly wondered if she was truly her parents daughter, if her siblings were really her own. Of course logically she knew they were, but that sensation of not belonging? Of not being part of their view of things? She understood that.
So she reached out and placed her hand on top of his own when he set the cup down, this half smile on her face that simply said I know and it's okay. People were flawed, inherently selfish to a degree, and she wasn't excused from it by any means. Her fingers wrapped about his from across the table, warm and gentle as she could manage.
"You know what? I'd love to have another cup with you." Audrey nodded firmly giving his hand a squeeze.
