Re: lakeside mansion: Hugh C./Audrey C.
This description received a laugh from Hugh, who had been into the coffee shop frequently enough to know that Ren had decent coffee standards for someone who wasn't a Seattleite. He stepped over, reached for the cup and brought it up to his nose to smell the coffee. He put it back down and reached for a spoon for it. He knew his espresso blend was good, although the gelato was something he'd picked up on a whim in the Capital and he had no idea. A taste, and he smiled. "Usually I get an Espresso con panna if I'm out somewhere, because some places don't know how to make an affogado, but this - Ren has not led you astray," he put the spoon down, and looked at the whole meal in front of him. "When I went to the University of Washington, and for a number of years after while I was trying to get enough professional income from acting to live on it, I worked at a local coffee roasters in Seattle," he told her. "I pretty much live on coffee."
It had been ages since anyone had cooked for him. Which, to be fair, Hugh liked cooking. And it wasn't as if he was lacking time to do it so he was never going to starve. But someone else having done so for him was really, unspeakably nice, and he smiled over at her, "Audrey, this looks incredible, and there is no need to apologize for using my kitchen," he stepped over to her, and quickly hugged her shoulders. "In fact, don't you dare apologize for being your amazing self. I'm honestly just -- the last time someone cooked something for me - that you know, wasn't a restaurant - was probably back when I visited my parents in October. You sit, I'll go grab salt, and I'm going to see if I can find the lemon pepper, cause I feel like if we want pepper - that's gonna be what we want."
He waved her towards the table and headed back into the butler's pantry, which was part wine storage, and part just everything he didn't want out on his kitchen counters. When he returned it was with a pepper mill, and a salt shaker, and he sat them down and took a seat. "I'm glad you slept well. That couch is really comfortable, which is good, cause I'm all too prone to falling asleep watching movies myself," he admitted as he reached for a fork. "But there are probably worse faults."
