"Sounds like you've been making a better go at getting involved and learning people than I did when I first got here. I sort of tried to pretend I was a hermit, and I'm really not," he laughed lightly and took a sip of the drink. He'd thought maybe he could be, but even that thought seemed ridiculous now. He was social, perhaps more social than most, and the idea that he could have been happy writing books alone by a lake now seemed flatly absurd.
"The town... does have a few of those. It keeps things interesting," he put the drink down on his knee and considered. "Did you have the train ride this fall?"
